Forgot to mention...

We started school last week! Chloe is now a big first grader, and Gideon is in kidergarten! yay!

I'm having a hard time adjusting. I can't quite figure out a groove, yet, so it's all rather chaotic. *sigh* it makes a big difference, doing two kids this year. I keep reminding God that He's the one who had me do this, so He's gonna have to figure it out for me. I'm watching expectantly to see how He does it. :)

Today, we're trying out a P.E. class at the YMCA. I think that should be fun. :)

I've had a very hard time getting back in to the groove this year. We are on week 5 and I finally feel like I am doing an ok job. Of course, I basically skipped yesterday, due to a HUGE lack of sleep (Josiah is teething). The biggest struggle I've had is just what to do with the 2 boys who aren't doing school? If it were just the girls - easy.

Hope the PE class is fun!

ug. sorry you're not sleeping.

i'm having trouble keeping the little ones out of trouble as well... but i think my problem is that i'm trying to teach both of the big kids at the same time. maybe i need to do one at a time, & then let the one who's not learning, be in charge of the little ones... i dunno...

I'm at the point that I do almost ALL the schoolwork while Josiah sleeps and Seth watches PBS. Yep, television as a babysitter. I'm all for it! :-) That gives us at least an hour to work hard. Abigail can do some stuff on her own (and is even self-motivated finally!!!!!). It is a challenge to keep the little ones busy. You can gate them in a "child proof" room, put them in the high chair with an erasable marker, let them play with some water in the sink ... All good ideas. Playdoh, etc. But yes, if you need to FOCUS on the older ones the younger ones can run wild! :-)

Oh! A friend of mine filled a baby pool with rice and let the kids use it indoors as a sandbox. My kids thought it was great fun to throw the rice at each other, but maybe yours wouldn't. :-)

i've heard about the pool thing. sounds like a great idea, but i wouldn't trust my kid in it...

i keep thinking i'll have to start doing school during nap time, some day, but i'm guarding that sacred time as long as possible. It's such a big thing for me to get that "me" time. --to take a bath, do a little reading, photograpy, emails, blogging, accounting... whatever, to give my brain a break. i dread the day that i may have to do school during that time...

how do you do it? do you have any time just for you?
