a moment in the life of a scatterbrained mom

Today I went to the fridge to get some food, and found a dirty diaper sitting on the shelf, right next to the lunch meat.

I blame it entirely on pregnancy and childbirth. I used to be so coordinated and organized and on top of things. Now I have to write things down or I'll forget. I'll get up, walk down the hall, and completely forget what I'm doing there, where I was headed, and what I was going to go get. I do think I read somewhere that pregnancy burns brain cells. I personally think that childbirth without an epidural gives you extra points in that area too. So basically, it's all your kids' fault. Heehee!

now that i've been enlightened about burned brain cells (thanks, Ruth), i feel so encouraged. i mean, HEY, there's a scientific reason for my ditziness! WOO HOO! only, Kari, you're in two times as much trouble as me, 'cause i only have two (so far). :) and i must be sooooooo smart, b/c i'd really like to burn some more brain cells one day! not 'til Nicholas is out of this "pull everything out of drawers and anything else i can get my hands on" phase, though...

by the way...two kids. not two brain cells. i realize knowing me it could be difficult to clarify which i might be talking about. :)

hah! yah... chris used to get mad at me for forgetting things all the time (back when we had 2 kids), & then he saw me getting ready for a trip & then he realized... it's not because i'm forgetful, or can't take care of things... it's just that i have FIVE people I have to think about! --sometimes six, if he needs help. so I'm pretty sure the diaper incident happened when i was trying to get all five of us out the door this morning. Getting five of us dressed and pottied, and shoed is a big ordeal! so I changed evy's diaper... and i dunno... maybe there's a sippy cup in the trash. :)

Ruth's answer works for me. Now I can stop blaming things on the blond streaks in my hair and blame the kids instead ;)
